Turkey Passport and Visa Requirements

Turkey visa and passport requirements vary for citizens of different countries around the world. Below are the requirements for people from various English-speaking states. Note that there are e-visa requirements for Turkey.

Requirements for Australian, Canadian, and US Citizens
Passport with three months’ validity from arrival date required. There must be enough space for entry and exit stamps in your passport. Visa required. For tourist/business stay of up to 90 days in a 180 day period in Turkey, a visa can be purchased for $20 USD ($60 USD or 45 euros for Australians and Canadians). If you are traveling to Turkey by cruise ship, you are allowed to enter the country without a visa for a maximum period of 72 hours.

Requirements for EU Citizens
Passport with six months’ validity from arrival date required for most EU countries. Visa required for citizens of Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and the UK. You can get a visa for 15 euros (free for Maltese citizens)). It is valid for tourist/business stays of up to 90 days (30 days for Republic of Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia).

Requirements for New Zealand Citizens
Passport with six months’ validity from arrival date required. Visa not required for stay of up to 90 days. There must be sufficient room for entry and exit stamps in your passport.

Requirements for South African Citizens
Passport with six months’ validity from arrival date required. Visa required. For tourist/business stay of up to 30 days in Turkey a multiple-entry visa can be purchased for around 20 USD. South African citizens may be asked to show proof of funds upon arrival ($50 USD/day).

Requirements for UK Citizens
Passport with six months’ validity from arrival date required. There must be a blank page for your visa. Visa required. For tourist/business stay of up to 90 days in Turkey a visa can be purchased for 10 GBP (Scottish currency not accepted). British National Overseas passport holders should check specific rules for them prior to arrival in Turkey. Cruise ship passengers entering the country for a day trip and returning to the ship the same day do not need a visa.
