JEWISH HERITAGE

DAY 1: Istanbul (D)

You will be met at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul and escorted to the hotel.

DAY 2: Istanbul (BD)

Guided tour of Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia and Great
Hippodrome.

DAY 3: Istanbul (BD)

Explore the Jewish Quarter of Balat, the Ahrida Synagogue. Then, we will visit
the area of Galata where Neve Shalom Synagogue is located and finally to
Beth Ya’akov synagogue in Kuzguncuk on the Asian side.

DAY 4: Istanbul (BLD)

Starting from a walk in the Spice Market, we will then get on a ferry for a
Bosporus tour. On this tour we will have a lunch which is included at a fish
restaurant and visit a medieval fortress. Then drive to Ortakoy to visit Etz Ahim
Synagogue. There will be some free time to explore Ortakoy itself.

DAY 5: Istanbul – Canakkale (BD)

We will follow Sea of Marmara coast, then cross the Dardanelles to
Canakkale.

DAY 6: Canakkale – Troy – Pergamum – Izmir (BD)

On our way to Izmir we will first visit legendary Troy, then after couple of hours
driving acropolis of Pergamum. There was an important Jewish community in
Bergama until this century.

DAY 7: Izmir (BD)

First explore Izmir and visit the Bet Israel Synagogue, then drive to Sardis and
tour this impressive ancient city with a recently restored third century C.E.
synagogue of unequalled splendor.

DAY 8: Izmir – Selcuk (BD)

Drive to Selcuk, visit Ephesus with our guide and then drive a short distance to
see what is left of the Artemision, the temple dedicated to the goddess
Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

DAY 9: Transfer to Izmir Airport after breakfast.
